The new LightStim for Wrinkles portable LED light therapy at-home treatment device from Aesthetics Source is now available to buy from The Clinic by Dr Mayoni.

How does Phototherapy or Light Therapy work?

Light therapy is non-invasive and offers the benefits of sunlight without the damaging effects of UV rays. When this light is applied directly to the skin it can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, temporarily increase blood circulation, and treat mild to moderate acne. Studies have shown that light therapy:

  • Helps stimulate cell and tissue regeneration
  • Increases blood circulation and oxygenation
  • Reduces inflammation & redness
  • Accelerates healing
  • Helps reduce wrinkles and creates tighter, smoother skin
  • Improves skin texture, elasticity and thickness
  • Works synergistically with other treatments and ingredients for better results

Light therapy also really complements our in-clinic advanced skincare treatments and we will be including phototherapy alongside our medi-facials.

Why LightStim?

LightStim gives you medical strength phototherapy and is approved by the FDA. LightStim therapy devices have been used and recommended by aesthetics practitioners, dermatologists and plastic surgeons for over a decade. Now you can experience the same professional strength treatment in the comfort of your own home. The device combines therapeutic light energy with patented technology to nourish your skin from within and help to tackle fine lines and wrinkles. Radiant, healthy-looking skin is what LightStim is all about!

What areas is LightStim suitable for?

LightStim for Wrinkles can be used to treat wrinkles on the entire face. You can treat your forehead, crow’s feet, cheeks, nasal labial folds, jawline, and even your lips. It is suitable for all skin types. LightStim uses LEDs (light emitting diodes) to generate light of different wavelengths. Each LED wavelength (or colour) of light provides unique therapeutic benefits. LightStim for Wrinkles has 72 LEDs of Amber, Light Red, Dark Red, and Infrared.

What does treatment feel like?

LED therapy is non-invasive, painless and requires no recovery time. The device emits a soothing and gentle warmth to the skin.

How do I use the device?

Firstly, cleanse and exfoliate the skin. Place the light so that it is gently touching your skin and hold it in position for about three minutes, before moving to another area. Repeat until you have treated all desired areas, then follow up with daytime moisturise and sunscreen or nighttime moisturiser. It really is as easy as that! For best results you should use the device five to seven days per week. Full instructions are also included with the handset, and we are happy to offer advice if you have any questions. The device is maintenance free, with no cartridges or batteries to replace, and comes with a five year manufacturer’s warranty.

How soon will I see results?

Phototherapy encourages the skin to revitalise from within, stimulating regeneration. You can expect to see the first signs of improvement after approximately eight weeks of daily use, with further improvement thereafter. Once you have achieved these results, you can reduce to two or three times per week if you prefer.
The photos below show the before and after results for a woman who used the device at home five times per week for eight weeks as part of the LightStim FDA Clinical Trial:

  • melasma or hyperpigmentation which is exacerbated by mild warmth
  • suspicious lesions or skin cancer
  • if you are pregnant or are currently being treated for any serious health condition
